ABOUT KYLA
Kyla Layton, BSc, MPT, completed a Specialized Honours Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University in 2022. Prior to and throughout her university education, Kyla taught Yoga and Pilates while working closely with physiotherapy patients, fostering her passion for using movement as medicine. She then completed a Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario.

Although new to Newfoundland, Kyla is excited to join the advancing pelvic health physiotherapy services in the province. She is a passionate advocate for equitable health care, deeply committed to addressing gender inequality and health disparities that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Kyla strives to ensure that all women, non-binary, and gender diverse populations have access to the healthcare they deserve. Her treatment style is holistic, focusing not just on the pelvic floor in isolation but on the entire individual as a physically active person.

Kyla has completed level 1 and 2 pelvic health training from Pelvic Health Solutions and is trained in treating urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic and low back pain, and prenatal and postnatal care. Kyla continuously seeks further education, particularly from a trauma-informed care perspective. She has extensive experience teaching pre and post-natal yoga, yin/hatha/vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, Pilates, and barre. In her spare time, Kyla enjoys hiking, climbing, crafting, and spending time with her cats.
